A lace front wig is a wig made with human hair tied to a lace base. The two types of lace used in the lace wig are French lace and Swiss lace. A "lace front" wig has lace at the hairline (ear to ear) that is secured with liquid adhesive or tape. When the lace is adhered to your own hairline, it gives an invisible hairline, making it look as though the hair is growing out of your scalp.

Q:  How many bracelets may I wear with my uniform?

A:  Female officers are permitted to wear one wristwatch and one wrist bracelet while in uniform. Articles of jewelry are to be conservative, in good taste, and not faddish or eccentric. Jewelry shall not present a safety or foreign object risk hazard. Ankle bracelets are not authorized while in uniform.

Q:  At my organization, the officers wear the black safety boots with their ‘salt & pepper’ (Service Blue) uniform. Is this authorized?

A:  No. The black safety boot is not authorized for wear with the Service Blue uniform. Only the black dress shoe (leather pump for women) and black service shoe (laced leather or synthetic oxford for men and women) are authorized with this uniform. The black safety boot can only be worn with the Working Khaki uniform and the Winter Working Blue uniform when authorized by the local uniform authority.

Q:  Do I have to wear my ribbons with my daily uniform?

A:  Ribbons and medals are a required component of the uniform except on the Working Khaki, Winter Working Blue, and Indoor Duty White uniforms. If you have more than one row of ribbons, you have the option of wearing only the highest row (referred to as your high three).

Q:  When indoors, how is the garrison cap tucked into the belt?

A:  The garrison cap can be tucked on either the right or the left hip under the belt. The opening of the cap should face to the back. The top ¼ of the cap is tucked into the belt. When worn on the left, the mini cap device is visible and when worn on the right, the rank is visible.

Jewelry among auction items
-- GSD State and Federal Surplus, August 2007

Jewelry seized by the Ohio State Highway Patrol is among the many items being auctioned by State and Federal Surplus on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 4200 Surface Road, Columbus.

The doors will open at 8 a.m. The auction begins at 9 a.m. with the jewelry being auctioned at noon.

The hundreds of items for sale include necklaces, bracelets, anklets, earrings, watches, and men and women’s rings seized by law enforcement. The jewelry will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Other available items include office furniture, computer and other electronic equipment and a wide range of miscellaneous other items, including lawn equipment, sail boats and a European foot spa.

Surplus property auctions provide the general public an opportunity to purchase quality goods at reduced prices and enable the state to recoup a portion of its initial investment. Miscellaneous property auctions generated nearly $1.1 million during fiscal year 2007 for the state Investment Recovery Fund.

Public auctions are the last step in the state's surplus program. State agencies declare property as surplus because it is damaged or at the end of its life cycle for government use. The property is then made available to other state agencies, state higher education facilities, tax-supported agencies, municipal corporations and other political subdivisions of the state, including public schools. Remaining property is sold at the public auctions. Auction merchandise also includes items collected by the Transportation Security Administration from airline passengers.

For more information, including payment requirements and directions, visit the State and Federal Surplus Web site at www.ohio.gov/surplus or call (614) 466-7636.
